*What are your athletic achievements and competition history?
I have always been involved in team athletics.  I grew up playing softball, basketball, volleyball and “running” track.  There was a sport all year around to keep me busy and out of trouble!  When I got to college, I was a 4-year Track & Field athlete and played volleyball for 1 year.  Most are surprised to learn that I was not a runner on the track team, but loved the field events!  I was 7-time All-Conference in shot put, hammer/weight throw, and javelin.  After college, I started running distance races and have logged many miles for a full marathon, several half marathons, 10k and 5ks. As far as fitness competition history, I am a Rookie!  The WBFF Central Championship is my fitness model debut and I could not be more excited!
*What or who inspires you to compete?
My husband, Dane, has been a huge supporter!  And my trainers Diana Chaloux LaCerte and Josh Sehorn are absolutely amazing and I could not have done this without them!
*What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?
The energy and excitement that comes at the show and the elite class of athletes that I will be sharing the stage with!
*What are your future goals?
I definitely see this as my first of many shows that I will compete in.  Also, I will look forward to having the opportunity to inspire others to change their lives and make fitness a priority!
*What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals?
One obstacle I had to overcome at first was the comments from friends and family that were “you do not need to lose any weight.”  It took a while for the people in my life to understand that being fit and feeling healthy is not all about the scale.  In fact, in the first 16 weeks of my new lifestyle, I lost 6% fat and gained 6% in lean mass, lost 4 inches around my waist and over 4″ around my hips with the scale only changed .1 lbs!  It has been amazing to see now how many people that are in my life come to me and ask for guidance on what they could do to change their lifestyle too!  The other major obstacle is my career.  It is a very high stress, face paced, time demanding sales job that requires a lot of traveling during the work week.  It took a lot of organization, dedication and focus to not only get in all of my workouts, but also to find ways to get creative to keep my nutrition on track!  I still have days that this presents a challenge, but I have learned a lot of lessons along the way that has allowed me to still achieve the level of success for where I am today.
*Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?
Dane, my wonderful and best husband in the world! My fabulous trainers, Diana Chaloux LaCerte and Josh Sehorn.  And lastly, Beachbody.com and Tony Horton have been a big part of my journey because their workout video programs have got me through a lot of workouts when I did not have a gym or needed to get in quick cardio in a hotel room!
