What or who inspires you to compete?

I look up to so many different fitness inspirations through Oxygen magazine, STATUS,  Rx Muscle and so many more that it would be to hard to name them all. I must ad my clients and camp members are one of the biggest inspirations. They look up to me as their guide to get them through the toughest parts and push them to the limits. In turn seeing them push their hardest and achieve the transformations that they do, feeds my fire. My father and sister also play a big part in overcoming physical obstacles like multiple surgeries and a disease called Hoshimotos. There is something about being asked for advice from people you have looked up to your whole life that makes you want to succeed.

What excites you most about competing with the WBFF

The most exciting part about competing with WBFF is being able to compete against the best of the best.  Also, the WBFF provides the most exposure for its athletes.  Finding out that some of the women that I have looked to for inspirations in fitness are already WBFF competitors makes this so much more real. Soon I will stand where they once began to begin my own path of inspiration.

What are your future goals?

I plan on continuing to help others in fitness and achieving goals no matter where I place in competing.

What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)

Like every young woman growing up I struggled with self image and always wanting to have the model type body. It was beaten into my head that the skinniest girl was the prettiest girl. Wanting to be the next top model I knew I had the dedication to get the look of the girls I saw in the high fashion magazines because I wanted it bad enough.  Knowing what I know now alone, makes me so much more passionate about spreading the word of fitness to the young women that may be impacted the way that I was growing up.

I owe a lot of credit to a man I met named Michael Gonzales, who changed my life. He brought me to the realization that a fit and confident woman was a beautiful woman. I couldn’t believe that my own mentality had been affected so badly by the world of modeling I was currently in, that I put my health in such danger. There would be weeks that I would survive on energy drinks and maybe a candy bar here or there.  My approval from agencies and photographers was fed by self doubt and manipulation that the confidence Michael spoke of, being so sexy, was all but lost. He opened my eyes by showing me real women.  Athletes that surrounded themselves with achievements, hard work and goals. Over the next 4 years I began to set my own goals in health, fitness and personal achievements. He showed me that as unrealistic as I thought those goals may be, it started with taking the first step in doing so, which was believing that I could get there.

Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?

I want to thank my family, who has loved me through every step encouraging me to keep going and keeping me on my toes with questions about their own fitness health.  My friends who have taken the steps to make their own achievements happen and help push me along the way. And of course, Michael … Thank you for helping me find the healthy, happy me that I am proud to share with the world, I love you.
