*What or who inspires you to compete?

I enjoy the structure and routine of contest prep. I live the lifestyle anyway, so it is such a bonus to have a venue/exhibition for all of the hard work. I want to teach my children to go after what they want 100%.

*What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?

It seems to be such a competitor centric federation. It also seems to be an organization that appreciates and rewards fuller muscles. I have been training for 16 years and living this lifestyle. I love to lift and with that, I have achieved a more muscular look than what the NPC was going for. After receiving the same feedback several times (which was “you need to quit training or go into bodybuilding”) I decided to seek out a federation that would be a better fit for me.

*What are your future goals?

I plan to keep training, competing, writing, and being a mom to my 3 kids.

*What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)

My battle started at 15 when I hit puberty and was struck with the realization that I actually did NOT have a small build like my mom and sister. I had a “boy shaped” body and started putting on weight very easily. After struggling with eating disorders, my mom took me to the gym to go about losing weight the right way. I started putting on muscle and leaning out and I was hooked. After each of my 3 c-sections, I was chomping at the bit to get back into shape. I did not want pregnancy to be my reason for losing my figure. Now, with 3 kids from 4 to 12, each day is a struggle. There is my work, their school, the golf, swimming, karate, gymnastics, homework, making dinner, bathtimes etc to contend with. It’s never easy, but it’s so worth it!

*How can people find out more about you?

Visit my website www.MommysBody.com

*Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?

First my mom for making that first trip to the gym – for insisting I not be a “cheater” and to do it the right way. To my husband for sharing the lifestyle with me and supporting my competing and to my children for giving up just a little bit of mom each day so I too can pursue my passion.
