WBFF Figure Competitor Stacy Beach
Name, Bio and Stats
Stacy Beach

34 years old
Where do you live?
I live in Kansas City, Missouri.
What are your athletic achievements and competition history?
This will be my first competition.
I am a Third Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate.
What or who inspires you to compete?
I have always admired the look of figure competitors through magazines and BodyBuilding.com. I just never thought it was achievable, until I met Diana Chaloux. She has truly inspired me by being a mentor and a friend. I am also inspired by all my fellow competitors that I have met in the past couple of months. These women are amazing and I love reading every one of their stories.
What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?
What excites me most about competing with the WBFF is seeing how they treat all of the competitors. Since this is my first show, I have no experience with any other organization, but I am blown away by all the opportunities that the WBFF has to offer!
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to continue working on living a fit life and inspiring others. I’ve caught the competition bug for sure so I definitely look forward to more competitions in the future!
What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)
I am a registered a Registered Nurse, 3rd Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, business owner and wife to the most awesome man. My husband and I own and operate a group home for individuals with developmental disabilities. We have three individuals that live with us that we assist on a daily basis.
My story that brought me to this point started in 2009; I had just graduated nursing school, passed the exam and was officially a Registered Nurse. I felt on top of the world. I am a very goal oriented person. I like to make lists and cross things off. I am organized and focused. Since nursing school was over, it was time to set my sights on a new goal. My 3rd degree black belt test was one year away. I wanted this test to be the best yet. There was only one problem. After nursing school, I was left staring at a number on the scale I thought I would never see, over 200lb. I was devastated. I never considered myself out of shape because I had been training in Karate three times a week and did yoga regularly. I was always doing some sort of exercise, but my diet was in the toilet! I had some very unhealthy eating habits and addictions and excuses!
I knew, in order to get my life on track and have the best black belt test I could, I was going to have to make drastic changes. I needed a clear goal though. I knew that just setting a goal of losing a certain number of pounds in order to have a good black belt test wasn’t going to cut it. I needed something bigger. So, I discussed it with my husband and explained to him my desire to not only get my weight and my diet under control, but to compete in a figure competition. He was on board! So, I hopped on bodybuilding.com and did a search for trainers in Kansas City. Diana Chaloux was the first name that popped up! I called her, met with her that same week and we got to work the following week.
She totally helped me transform my life! I worked with her from May 2009 to November 2009 and she gave me the tools I needed to make healthy choices for living a fit life. I discovered my intolerance for gluten and dairy that I’m sure I have had my whole life but didn’t even realize. I found my love for running again. My eyes were opened to my fear of failure and the self-sabotage I endure when I get scared of failing! My addiction with food and emotional eating was also brought to the surface. Diana isn’t just about losing weight, she is about transforming your life and that’s exactly what I have done!
My drive to compete grew even stronger. I met back up with Diana in January of 2010 to start my competition prep. Four weeks in I grew very anxious about the whole process. I couldn’t get my mind right about it. I wasn’t giving 100% and I didn’t like that. I had too many goals going! I backed out. I have never forgotten that feeling. I had given up on a goal and it bothered me, A LOT.
I turned my attention to my 3rd Degree Black Belt and tested in June of 2010. I had the best test in my 11 years of training. There was nothing they threw at me that I couldn’t handle. It was one of the proudest moments of my life.
In September 2010, the fire started to burn again about competing. I couldn’t ignore it. All I could think of was the fact that I had given up once before and that did not sit comfortably with me. I emailed Diana and told her I wanted to do it for real this time. I knew in order to give 100% of my focus I needed it to be the ONLY goal. I left my karate school after 11 years of training and set my eyes on the stage. I cleaned up my diet and got my head on straight about the whole process. I joined back up with Diana in January of 2011 and here we are 4 WEEKS OUT!

Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?
I would like to thank my husband, Justin, for being my biggest supporter. I am always thinking up some crazy project or goal to get myself into that is going to take me to my “edge”. He is always there to encourage me and makes me feel like I can do anything! I know I have not been the easiest person to live with these past 12 weeks, but he would never say that. He tells me how beautiful I am every day even though he hasn’t seen me anything but workout clothes and no makeup for most of the past three months. He wipes my tears when I cry for carbs and gently pushes me do get that 2nd round of cardio when all I want to do is crawl in bed. He reminds me of what a strong woman I am and that I can do anything I put my mind too almost daily. I am SO thankful!
I am also thankful to Diana Chaloux. She has opened my eyes to how great it feels to live a fit life. I feel (and look) better than I felt in high school! I don’t have the words to describe how thankful I am for all the work she has put into ME! She has been a mentor and friend and I am so thankful that I found her when I did. My life will be forever changed because of what I have learned from Diana.
Lastly, I have to thank my friends and family who always show up for me. I have the most understanding family and group of friends. They have understood my selfishness over the past few months and have been nothing but positive and genuinely interested. I feel very fortunate to have such an amazing support system.
