Whether you’re dating or in a serious relationship, the standard dinner-and-a-movie date just doesn’t exactly cut it anymore. Not only is it completely cliché, but it also sets you and your date up for an extremely unhealthy night!!

Have no fear, Hitch Fit’s here to help! Instead of choosing dates that focus on stagnation and chugging sugary, calorie-loaded cocktails, we have compiled a list of our favorite healthy date nights (or days!) that are sure to keep you and your relationship moving and shaking (beyond the bedroom! Wink, wink.).

1. Take a hike
Tell your date to take a hike (in a literal sense!). Fall is right around the corner and the great outdoors yield a visually stunning experience this time of the year. After all, autumn means that leaves are starting to turn gorgeous shades of red, yellow, and orange. Why not soak in all the color with your date? The benefits of hiking are numerous—from toning your legs to strengthening your lungs. Best of all, it’s free! Talk about a cheap healthy date…

2. Spot each other

Don’t be afraid to take your date to the gym!!! Not only will it signal to them how important working out is to you, but it can actually be more fun working out as a pair than going at it solo! Start off by doing a tour de elliptical. If you’re feeling extra competitive, see who can get the furthest in 10 minutes. After that quick warm up, head over to the weights for a great strength workout. And ladies, don’t be afraid to show off your guns! You’ll love watching his jaw drop when you surprise him with your strength.

3. Stretch out
Yoga isn’t only amazing for a strong body, it can also strengthen you and your partner’s emotional connection. Yoga allows you to flaunt your flexibility (you may even ignite creativity in your partner’s mind…oh la la!). For your next healthy date, try out a couple’s yoga class or buy a yoga DVD.

4. Get roped up
No, we’re not talking Fifty Shades of Grey here…get your mind out of the gutter!!! We mean rock climbing!! Whether you’re a novice or an expert, rock climbing is an activity that is bound to build both strong trust and strong bodies. Plus, rock climbing is a healthy activity that can be done both indoors and outdoors.

5. Hit the links
Golf may be known as a gentlemen’s game, but it’s a sport that anyone can learn (obviously some better than others!). If your partner has never played before, teach them how and connect on a whole new level. If you both have never played before, fear not! Golf is a game filled with more than enough teachers. Whether public or private, every course has a pro available for lessons. Not quite ready to give the full 18 holes a try? You can always opt for a competitive round of putt-putt! We promise you will be teed up for a healthy relationship after this active date.

6. Let someone else’s hands do the work

After so many active dates, you may be a little sore. Don’t be hesitant to take some time to relax, indulge and sign up for a couple’s massage. All you have to do is book a date, show up and let that stress melt away. Massages aren’t just a great way to relax your mind and spirit, they are actually good for your body too!

7. Pedal the city

If neither you nor your date owns a bike, rent some for the day and go sightseeing. Go check out a favorite spot somewhere in town that your partner has never been. Take a camera along for the ride to capture the fun moments you experience along the way. Bike riding is a fun and healthy date idea that you could easily do every weekend.

8. Cut a rug
Dancing is an activity that women are almost always better at then men, so a couple’s class is a great way for a lady to show off and get in sync with her partner’s rhythm!! Whether you two feel like tango, salsa or trying out the hottest new dance craze known as Zumba, dancing is a fun way to get intimate and burn some calories. In fact, you’ll easily burn 355 calories with one hour of dancing! So forgo the Junior Mints at the concession stand and strap on those dancing shoes!

9. Take me out to the cages
Chicks dig the long ball—that’s a fact. So fellas, what better way to assert your dominance than crushing some balls at the local batting cages? Put on a show for your little lady by inviting her to her own personal home run derby. When you’re finished and she’s felt your Thor-like bicep, let her have a swing at a few pitches. You might be surprised by her ability to knock the guts out of a ball!! This activity is way more health-conscious than sitting at a baseball game—it’s active and it doesn’t have anything to do with foot-long hotdogs and ballpark nachos!

10. Lace up the skates
The coldest time of the year could possibly be one of the best times to heat up your super active relationship! Bundle up with your mate and heads to the local ice skating rink. Don’t own a pair of skates? No problem! Skate rentals are inexpensive. If your city has an outdoor rink available, don’t second guess it. Ice skating provides a romantic, hand-in-hand experience that is only heightened by the beautiful lights that are up during winter. No skating rink in site? Get an outdoor winter fix and go sledding!
