My transformation started much the same as everyone else. I was at a point in my life where my fitness level was deteriorating and the lack of results was affecting my motivation to continue training. My workouts had become stagnant and I felt like I was just going through workouts and barely maintaining myself. I considered these workouts strictly maintenance since I wasn’t gaining or losing weight. I wasn’t eating healthy and my energy level was low due to my poor eating habits and my low level of fitness. I knew I needed to change.
When I was younger I was very active and I was always the skinny kid. I ate very large quantities of food but wouldn’t gain any weight. While some people would consider this a blessing, I looked upon it as a curse. I played sports in school but felt that I could have been more competitive had I not been as skinny as I was. I tried desperately to gain weight with no results.

After high school I joined the military. I was 6’2’’ and 150lbs. I thought to myself that if anyone could put some weight on me it would be the military. Unfortunately, after four years of service I had not gained a pound of weight. I then joined the police dept and continued weight training and incorporated a fair amount of cardio to the mix. During this timeframe I was still hovering around 150 lbs. After five years on the department I had the opportunity to join a tactical response team. Upon leaving patrol I weighed a mere 160lbs. I thought to myself that this was an excellent opportunity to get in great shape. Tactical response teams have mandatory physical fitness training times and, this won’t surprise anyone, eat quite a bit.
While in tac I turned 30 and believed that my metabolism had finally slowed down. I grew from 160 lbs to 205 lbs; I was impressed with my weight gain but didn’t truly comprehend the situation I had gotten into. I attributed weight gain to muscle gain because I was working out, well; this simply was not the case. I had put on several pounds of fat. I soon realized that I wasn’t eating healthy at all and decided to attempt to eat healthy; as soon as I did I began to lose weight. I eventually got down to 187 lbs before my weight loss tapered off. I was glad that I had gained the weight but was displeased with the toll it took on my cardio and with the way I looked. When I looked in the mirror I thought I would look much different weighing 187 lbs compared to 160 lbs and I really didn’t look much different.
Soon I began to hear about all the success some of my coworkers were having with a program called “Hitch Fit”. I talked to several people that told me the workouts were brutal and the diet was very tough but they were seeing unbelievable results. I was intrigued but thought to myself, I don’t want to lose weight, I want to gain muscle. One of my coworkers then explained that “Hitch Fit” also had a muscle building program. I checked out the webpage and sent Micah a few inquisitive emails and ultimately decided that I wanted to do this. I made the decision knowing that I would go through with it and follow the program precisely. When I first saw the diet, I will admit, I was overwhelmed. I didn’t think I would be able to eat all this food each day. I looked at the workout and it looked pretty tough but I underestimated it because I felt like I was in shape. The first couple of days were very difficult, I was consistently full and soon it would be time to eat again. My entire body was sore from the workouts and soon another group of muscles would endure the same fate. After about a week though, I fell into a rhythm and things started to get much easier. After a week of eating healthy, drinking the correct amount of water, and working out effectively, I found that I felt better, had more energy, and began looking forward to working out.
As the weeks past I would take my photos and send them to Micah. I was amazed at the results that I was seeing. In the end I had actually lost a few pounds of overall weight but my body fat percentage had decreased significantly which in turn meant that I had gained a significant amount of muscle weight. Even after completing the program my transformation will continue, I am still eating healthy and continuing to work out effectively. This program is amazing and will work for anyone who is committed enough to the program. The old adage of “If I can do it, anyone can” is certainly relevant in this, just believe in yourself and commit yourself and you’ll see results.
