How to Keep That Sexy Butt

Feminine shapesWhether you’ve got one by nature or worked hard to maintain that beautiful booty, here are some unique tips to help you easily stay on track through the winter! After all, summer is coming and you want that bodacious bottom to be in tip top shape.

Hip Raises

There are many variations to this workout, but the general theme involves lying on your yoga mat ( or floor) with feet on the ground – knees up. By lifting your pelvic area up to the sky, you will be strengthening that butt area quite well. A more intense version of this includes lifting one leg at a time to your chest and placing it back on the ground – all while keeping those hips up!

Barbell Deadlift

Think of this exercise as a reverse squat. Your goal isn’t going to be how many up and down movements in a 30 second period, but will focus on the weight lifting aspect. Toning butt muscles is no different than bicep muscles, so load your barbell and get ready. With both feet shoulder width apart, squat down, pick up the barbell and stand up, leaving your arms straight down. The barbell should come to about your thighs. Then, lower the bar, keeping it close to your body. Squeeze those gluteus muscles the whole time, giving it the workout it needs to really shape your back end.

Single-leg Squats

Switch it up between workouts and try using only one leg to support your body during a squat. Stand with one foot on the ground, and the other lifted so that it’s parallel with the floor – knee bent, foot behind you.  Now…SQUAT! A little difficult? Keep trying; this exercise is great, not only for your butt, but also for your overall balance. Balance moves work so many other muscles, giving you an extra tidbit of workout!

Kettle Ball

The Kettle Ball is a great workout tool, allowing you to work with weights, but in unique ways. This specific workout involves a hybrid squat. Standing with feet apart, slightly farther than shoulder width, squat down while swinging the ball between your legs. You’ll be aiming for a 45 degree angle here. As you stand back up, swing the ball back to your front. Continue in this manner, attempting to forcefully push that ball back and forth.

Clamshell

Lie on the floor on your side, legs slightly bent. With your feet touching, lift the top knee to the sky as far as you can, opening your legs much like a clam. Bring it slowly back down, and lift again. Make sure your feet remain in contact, and don’t forget to switch sides!

Steps

This works well with weights, so bring along your dumbbells. Choosing a high step (a little lower than knee high is good), place one foot on the step and in one swift movement, raise your body onto that step, leaving your other foot resting on the outside of the step. Step down and switch feet.

Try one or try them all! Just make sure you choose to accomplish these workouts with consistency. Be diligent in your pursuit of a fabulous booty, and you will be pleased with the results come summer! What about you, Hitch Fit readers? Do you have any fantastic butt workouts to share?
