*What are your future goals?
My future goals are to build my name and brand as well as the business side of things.
*What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)
In late 2006, I had to deal with the biggest obstacle of my life. I was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Vasculitis. In a nutshell, vasculitis is a disease that causes your blood vessels to become inflamed. The blood vessels see themselves as bacteria and destroy themselves. The situation was life changing for me and my family. During this time, I found myself between a rock and a hard place. Fitness has always been a part of my life; however, the doctor’s decision to have me away from the weight room for about one year was a huge set back. I must say that it was very difficult to remain positive with everything going on. The doctor presented me with news about the type of vasculitis that was taking over my body. I was diagnosed with the worst type. During the next six months, I lost about 20lbs. The doctor explained how severe my case was and informed me and my family of the possibility of only having 5 years to live. Words cannot explain how I felt about the situation. I thank God for my supportive friends and family. They helped me to keep a strong mindset and remain positive throughout the process. In March of 2008, the doctor confirmed that my battle was over, and I could return to my fitness regimen. Since then, I have been going to college studying exercise science and nursing. I have also received my ACE certification and recently joined Xtreme Fitness as a personal trainer. I am very passionate about helping others reach their dreams /goals a reality. I thank God for helping me through my obstacles and allowing me the chance to pay it forward doing what I love.
