Hitch Fit Athlete Coryn Martin Places Top 5 For WBFF Pro Diva Bikini Model

Coryn Show day
WBFF Pro Diva Bikini Model & Hitch Fit Athlete Coryn Martin on Show day at the WBFF Montreal Pro/Am
WBFF Pro Diva Bikini Model Coryn Martin has been a part of team Hitch Fit since 2012. She landed her WBFF Pro status that year at the WBFF Central US Championships in Kansas City! It has been so much fun watching Coryn grow and mature as a Pro athlete these last couple of years. She is an EXCELLENT example of someone who takes her off season seriously. She is disciplined and dedicated in the off season, she has gone back and forth between building phases and leaning phases for the last 3 years with Hitch Fit. She works hard to build muscle during her off season, while not gaining a lot of body fat. This allows her to stay in photo shoot shape year round. Every time this little lady has stepped on stage, she brings a better and better package! Coryn competed at the WBFF Montreal Pro/Am event in April 2015, and took home a top 5 placement in the Pro lineup!! We wanted to first congratulate her on this great success!! We also wanted to share a bit more of her story. Her body is one that has been in the works for years. It hasn’t happened overnight!! It has taken an incredible amount of focus, and passion for the sport of physique competition which she loves! Congratulations Coryn and thanks for being an inspiration!! We are very proud of you!!
Check out the incredible transformation Coryn has had since 2012!!! Every off season, she has been diligent with her training and nutrition to consistently build muscle and improve her physique. Coryn is a natural athlete, this didn’t happen overnight!! Ladies who are wanting a similar physique to Coryn, be prepared to put the work in, because that’s what she has done!

Coryn on Stage at Montreal Pro

What have you been up to since winning your WBFF Pro Diva Bikini Model status in 2012?

After winning my WBFF Pro status in 2012, I have become more dedicated to this sport, as well as the federation. I’m continuously motivated to improve my physique and increase my strength. I am motivated by people telling me that I inspire them to become healthy and fit. It’s extremely humbling knowing that people look up to you and want to be better because of you!

Since becoming a WBFF Pro, I have been very fortunate to obtain a sponsorship from RocBody Fitness Cafe, that provides me with my healthy meals weekly during prep, and as needed during my off season, according to my Hitch Fit nutrition plan.

I also recently became a sponsored athlete for Natural Body, a vitamin and supplement store in my hometown. With their help and support, they made it possible for me to compete at the WBFF Montreal Pro/Am. I look forward to continuing my partnership with Natural Body as I prepare for the 2015 WBFF World Championships.

What are your tips for off season for bikini athletes who want to make consistent progress physically?

When I am not prepping for a show, I continue to eat clean 85 percent of the time. My Hitch Fit meals consist of lean protein, carbs, healthy fats, fruits, and veggies. I love egg whites, bison, oatmeal, apples and peanut butter. I could eat these foods everyday and not get tired of them. However, I do not deprive myself of foods I want because honestly, I love and enjoy food way too much. The only difference between prepping and an off season, is that I truly do little to no cardio, (simply because I hate it), and anyone that follows me, knows that I enjoy my cheeseburgers, fries, pizza, and Oreos…all in moderation of course.

After years of doing this and with the guidance of both Diana and Micah, I have learned that your show body isn’t made in those 16 weeks leading up to a show. Your body is made during all the weeks and months prior to beginning your show prep. I really never consider it my “off season,” because I train harder than ever, 6 days a week. Each week I try to hit each body part 2x a week, my legs especially. However, I like to my attack my glutes 3x a week. I squat and I squat and I squat some more (LOL).  Everyone is different, but this is what Diana and I have found works for me. I have noticed incredible progress in my physique by training heavy, and living a healthy and balanced lifestyle year round.

There were many times post show, that I experienced that terrible rebounding feeling and the scale instantly going up anywhere from 5-8lbs in a week! It can completely mess with your head! I promised myself that I would never let myself feel miserable, mentally, physically, and emotionally,  for a week post show from stuffing myself with one too many cheats and treats. After the Montreal Pro/AM show, I enjoyed a cheeseburger, fries, and some Oreos. I enjoyed some Easter candy and a delicious Italian Easter dinner with my family. This truly is my LIFESTYLE! Therefore, two days after the show when I was back home in NY, I hit the gym and got right back into lifting heavy and sweating. For the first time ever post show, I actually followed my reverse dieting plan provided by Hitch Fit and prepped my meals accordingly. I also made sure to keep my water intake high.  I’m not going to say I haven’t enjoyed and cheats, because I have, I just chose to not overdo it this time to avoid feeling uncomfortable and experiencing those “post show blues.”

How do you deal with cravings?
When I am prepping for a show and get cravings, I feel my abs and think to myself, “These feel better than the way that tastes!” LOL KIDDING!

On a serious note, when prepping for a show and eliminating cheats that’s when I usually start chewing on some Sugar free gum. I oddly find that flavored seltzer helps me too. Occasionally I enjoy some sugar free Jell-o to help with those late night cravings. Or I just chug some green tea or water, brush my teeth, and go to bed!

How was your experience at the WBFF Montreal Pro/Am Show?

The Montreal show was AMAZING! And no, I’m not just saying that because of my placing but I truly found the show to be great. The show ran quickly and smoothly, considering it was with both amateurs and pro divisions. The stage, the lighting, the venue and location were all ideal and incredible. To be honest this was one of the first times I was truly satisfied with the finished product of my hair, makeup and tan for a show! Cherry Dolls had an amazing team of women that were efficient and accommodating. I wish I could hire the two women that did both my hair and makeup for everyday life!

I stay consistent year round with my training and nutrition, therefore I am pretty fortunate to only need to do a six week prep for this show. Since I work every day from 745am-3pm with activities and/or obligations after work, I had to make time for the gym, which was at 4:30 every morning! My prep was in no means difficult, Diana slowly had me add in a few days of HIIT cardio, in addition to my heavy lifting.

However, just a few weeks out from the show, I faced a few emotional challenges in my personal life that made me want to just give up and call it quits. Every day for the last 3 weeks of my prep, my coach Diana, my family, and closest friends encouraged and supported me to not give up on my goal. Each day, I got stronger and stronger. The sadness I felt, slowly faded and the fire in me began to light again. I would push myself harder each morning. My hard work paid off. I am beyond happy that I didn’t give up on myself or on those people who believed in me, even when I didn’t quite believe in myself.

How did you feel when you placed top 5 at the Montreal Pro show?

I was shocked! Placing top 5 at the Montreal Pro/Am show was my goal for this year. When they announced my name, I was so happy and ecstatic. Truly proud of myself that I achieved what I set out to accomplish. I am truly happy with the overall package I brought to the stage from head to toe. I am still on a happy high from the show. I am motivated even more now to bring a better package and performance the next time I step on the WBFF Pro Bikini stage.

Do you have any advice or inspirational words for someone who is aspiring to get into the fitness world?

First and foremost, remember to always have fun! Enjoy and embrace every moment of your fitness journey and the challenges that you face along the way. Those challenges are only going to make you stronger and better. Rid your mind of negative thoughts and your life of toxic people that are trying to bring you down. Allow yourself to have 100% trust in the process and your coaches. Find a happy & healthy balance with your training and nutrition, so that you don’t forget to enjoy LIFE!

When competing with the WBFF, you are given an opportunity to really showcase all of your hard work as an athlete. You want to make sure you own the stage and be confident. Smile until it hurts! And most importantly, be proud of yourself for accomplishing something that most people would never imagine doing.

What are your plans for the future?

I am hoping for some big and exciting life changes in 2015!  I would love to change my career path and dedicate my time, energy, and focus into helping others transform their lives with health and fitness.

I am planning to compete this coming August at the 2015 WBFF World Championships in Vegas. I am motivated and focused more than ever to bring my best to the big show!

I will be attending and helping out at many of the WBFF shows throughout the United States.

Myself, along with fellow WBFF Pro Athletes Amanda Saccomanno (2014 Bikini World Champion) and Eillen Vent have organized several WBFF posing workshops in NYC for this year. I am excited to continue coaching women with their posing and stage presentation, as well as teach them all the ins & outs of competing with the WBFF.

I hope to travel, be adventurous, live and enjoy the moment!
