I am a 43-year old mommy of four w/a husband that travels frequently. I’m the queen of always needing a goal.  I drive my family completely crazy because I just can’t relax after a competition or a race.  I’m immediately onto the next thing.  My husband told me one day that I am all or nothing and when I go for something, I go deep.  He pegged it.  My love has always been to run.  If you put me out on a straight road on a gorgeous day, I swear I could run forever.  I can’t tell you why I love it so much, but I do. My love for running though is how I ended up as a client to Diana Chaloux and now a trainer at Hitch Fit.  All I had ever done was run.  Run, run, run.  No weight training and no care in the world to my diet.  In fact, I ate what I want ed because I ran and figured that it all canceled out.  It was very normal for me to say, “I ran 20 miles today, I can go eat Mexican & have some margaritas”.  Ick.  I hung on fairly well at that mode until two things happened to me.  I turned 40 and I was injured from all of my years of running and no weight training.  I had no muscle but I was a high body fat.  I have caught a lot of flack about using the term “skinny fat” with my running friends.  Unfortunately it described me perfectly.  So here I was 40 years old, unable to do the thing I loved the most for exercise and the scale was increasing  every time I got on it.  I found Diana at Hitch Fit and instantly loved her.  You know the saying that everything happens for a reason?  I live by this mentality.  I was plopped down in front of Diana for a reason.  She never judged me but instantly put me to work.  She talked me into doing a fitness competition and completely overhauled my diet and workouts.  I had a new goal!!!  I was so happy.  In fact, I was so happy that I became the first female trainer (besides Diana) at Hitch Fit and have never looked back.  That was almost 3 years ago. Now I get to spend my days teaching busy women that they can do the exact same thing.  On top of everything else, I am back to running—injury free.  Through all of the weight training and proper nutrition, my old legs feel new again.  You don’t have to just live with getting older and out of shape.  You can be healthy and love your body way past 40.  With that said, I am stepping on stage yet again in May.  My 43 year old backside will be side by side with girls in their 20’s.  I’m completely secure with that because I know that even though I’m an old broad on stage, I’m truly happy with my health and setting a positive example for other women.  My daughter Allie will be stepping on stage herself, for the first time with me.  The WBFF is our new home and I am so proud to have my daughter and I represented by them.   Look for me on the WBFF stage and, of course out on the streets running!

What or who inspires you to compete?

I’m naturally one of those people that has the drive and internal inspiration to push hard for my goals.  However, this may surprise people, but my goal is never to go in and get first place at a competition.  My goal is just to go and have fun & do better than I did the last time.  Obviously I want to do well and represent myself in a positive manner but the real inspiration is just the process for me.  Each time I go through comp-prep, I learn something new and this makes me a better trainer too. Along the way I am inspired by all of the incredible people I meet too.  I have made so many new friends through fitness and oh so inspiring ones!  Everyone has a story and the stories are incredible!!

What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?

I have competed in other organizations and the WBFF is so different.  I am excited about the way the organization represents its athletes.  I have not found any other organization that promotes all of its athletes—not just the pros.  The opportunities are endless if you have a real love for the sport.

What are your future goals?

Ha. Well since I already stated that I am a goal girl, it will not surprise you that I already have my next goal on the books.  My next goal turns to my run to love and qualify for the Boston Marathon.  This is my bucket list dream goal and I’m going for it this Fall.  I already have my race lined up and as soon as I am out of contest-prep diet, I am in Marathon PR diet.  I’ve had some people say I can’t do it.  Oh how I love this. Boston qualifying WILL happen—I am that focused in on it.

I have also started up our own running program out of Hitch Fit and as soon as I am done with the WBFF May show, I will be focused on building this and teaching others to run and set PR goals as well.  We have a lot of past and current clients at Hitch Fit that have gone through their transformation but want to continue with their healthy lifestyle.  This is where my running program comes in.  Also, with the help of Micah and Diana, we will be having our first annual Hitch Fit 5k this Fall.  Wow.  I get so excited about all of it.

How can people find out more about you?

You can find me on FaceBook , www.HitchFitGYm.com and also www.FigureSorority.com.  I train in person at Hitch Fit and also train through online programs for clients that are not local.  Online programs can be for competitions or for running.  The nutrition is completely different for both.  You can also email me directly at:  [email protected]

Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?

The first people that come to mind are my sweet husband, Nick and my beloved friend, Diana Chaloux.  Without a supportive husband, none of this would be happening for me.  He is my biggest cheerleader and he loves me even when I am cranky from a tough training day.  He’s my #1.

Diana is the instigator!  Without meeting Diana, I would not be transformed myself or transforming others.  Blessings all around.

My kids and the rest of my family are also pretty darn patient.  This is not a sport you can do without people in your corner.  Obviously I have amazing people in my corner.
