I’m so proud of today’s transformation Nikki! Nikki heard about Hitch Fit from her girlfriend Meghan’s family. Several of them had completed rock star transformations including mom of 4 Kristin Simone and Meagan and Kristin’ s mom Donna, who got in great shape at 60! A diagnosis of high cholesterol is what gave Nikki the push that she needed to make the necessary healthy lifestyle changes to get her body to a place where she was feeling great! She and Meagan did this together, having the support at home is such a huge factor for success! Nikki, despite an incredibly busy work schedule, made great progress week by week. 12 weeks later and 20 pounds leaner, she is an inspiration for all the gals out there who think they are too busy to take care of themselves! Awesome job Nikki!!

Nikki’s Story and Hitch Fit Review:

“Over the past few years “life” has certainly caught up with me.  I was obviously getting older, my metabolism was slowing down and the horrible family genes that were passed on to me were finally making an appearance.  I had gone from a college student where the weekend drinking started on Wednesday, to medical school where my life consisted of sitting in the library, to a run-down anesthesia resident working 80 hours a week.  Each one of these life phases consisted of bad food choices, but I still had youth on my side.  The effects of eating terribly were not noticeable until the past few years of my life.  I have been a busy Anesthesiologist, in private practice, for seven years with the past three being in a brand new city completely opposite from what I had been used to.  I moved to a paradise where the sun always shines and having a nice cold alcoholic beverage on a restaurant patio with greasy food became routine after work.  If you combine this with meeting my current partner who loved sun, alcohol, and greasy food as much as I did, we certainly became “fat and happy”.

We heard about Hitch Fit through my girlfriend’s family.  Her sister, mom, and brother-in-law all went through a transformation program and had amazing results.  It was something we had contemplated doing for well over a year after seeing their transformations, but kept making excuses as to how it wouldn’t work for us for some reason or another.  Mentally, we were just not ready to make any lifestyle changes even though we knew we needed to.  For me, it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with high cholesterol that I really opened my eyes to making a serious change.  I have a strong family history of heart disease with family members having had heart attacks in their early 40s.  I did not want to be next!  I knew my work schedule would make my transformation goals more challenging as my hours vary and I do not get a designated lunch break (or any breaks for that matter).  I wondered how I would get my workouts and meals in when there are days I work 24 hours straight and knew I would somehow have to find time to sleep.  I learned that if you really want it, you can make anything happen. Most of the time that meant getting to the gym at 4:30am to get some of my workout done and then going back whenever I got out of work to finish.  Throughout the transformation phase, I did not miss a single workout.  I was determined to get the results I signed up for!!

It was certainly a challenge with lots of ups and downs.  It’s very easy to get discouraged and frustrated when you see a big change on the scale one week and little change the next especially knowing you worked just as hard.  Diana said three words to me very early on that kept me feeling positive and motivated.  “Trust the process”.  Once I learned to trust the process, it was much easier to not focus so much on the scale as it is not the best indicator of progress.  It was also beneficial to go through the transformation with someone else.  My partner and I were able to keep each other on track both in the kitchen and at the gym when the other may not have been as motivated.  I can honestly say that although I do miss some of my old food habits, I do not miss the way I looked and felt when I ate them.  No longer was youth on my side.  Now I feel amazing, have so much more energy, and most importantly my cholesterol has gone down over 150 points! I will still have a French fry and a drink here and there, but I will not have an entire plate of fries and will choose something other than a margarita full of sugar.  I went into this transformation knowing that it wasn’t going to be  “just a diet”, but a lifestyle change that I intend to continue for the rest of my life.  Strong, healthy, and happy is a much better way to live than fat and happy.” :-)
