Christine Drops 35 lbs of Weight and this Mom Looks Amazing in Her Bikini!!!

For the last 4 months my husband and I have embarked on one of the most difficult and rewarding journeys of my life.  I suppose I should start with my journey to becoming unhealthy to really appreciate what Hitch Fit did for me.  Being overweight was not always an issue for me.  In high school I was a cheerleader and on the dance team.  So I was small enough to pull off the skin tight, tiny outfits that come with being a cheerleader/dancer.  And let me tell you, four months ago I would not be caught out in public in those little outfits cheerleaders have to wear!

When I started college, my schedule was very hectic and I began to rely on eating fast food for lunch and dinner all the time.  And that’s when the weight gradually crept up on me.  By the time I graduated from college five years later, I had really packed on the pounds.  I couldn’t tell you how much weight I actually gained because weighing myself was just not important to me in high school.  And then weighing myself throughout college was just too stressful, and to be honest I really didn’t want to know what I weighed.  Whatever the number was, I knew it wasn’t good!

I had a friend and co-worker who was experiencing the same thing and we kept saying “We should really go get a membership to the gym.”  But it was all talk.  Then one day I stepped on the scale in my bathroom after I got home from work.  I remember being horrified because I weighed over 200 lbs.  That is the day I first went out and got a gym membership.  I got a short tour of the gym and some suggestions on how to use the machines.  But I felt lost.  I would walk on the treadmill for a little bit and do some weights on the machines, but it just wasn’t working.  So I decided to try out the group fitness classes.  Still, I struggled to lose weight and I was not consistent with my workouts.

I remember I had gotten my weight down to 185 lbs. when I found out I was pregnant with my first son.  So, that stopped me in my tracks.  I was tired all the time.  I ate junk food anytime I wanted because I figured I was going to gain the weight any way, so I might as well enjoy the food.  By the time I gave birth, I weighed 220 lbs.  That’s when I decided I needed to really put more effort into losing the weight and getting healthy.  It wasn’t just me anymore, I had a child that depended on me and I wanted to be healthy for him, too.

I began reading Women’s Health and other magazines to try and educate myself and get ideas for workouts and to help guide my diet.  I went back to the gym when my son was 3 months old and found one of the most wonderful women who taught a group fitness class designed to tone and strengthen your entire body.  Low and behold I finally found a workout that I really enjoyed and found challenging as well as someone who could help instruct and guide me at the gym.  I also began keeping a food journal and counting my calories.  I really tried to cut out things I knew were bad for me, like the potato chips, chocolate, and candy, and made sure I always had some veggies with my dinner.  This time around I was actually very pleased with my success and got my weight down to 155 lbs.

Then I became pregnant again.  I’m sure all you parents out there realize how hectic having two small children can be!  So once again the weight came back and I quit counting calories and watching what I was eating.  Over the next four years my weight hovered between 168-178 lbs.  I tried going to workout, but when I did not see any results after spending hours in the gym I would give up.  It just felt like I was not getting any return on my investment.

Last year we went to my husband’s family for Thanksgiving.  I knew my sister-in-law Amy Gipson had just recently had her second child, but I had no idea that she had shed the weight.  I was so shocked and amazed when I saw her; she looked amazing.  She told me she had done a Hitch Fit Online Training program to lose the weight.  I couldn’t believe it!  I was skeptical at first, but the proof was right in front of me! The first thing I did when I got home was look up hitchfit.com and research it to see what it was all about.  The testimonials and FAQ’s page made me really consider signing up. But I knew an online program would require 100% commitment.  I wanted to do it, but I also knew I wasn’t ready yet.

I decided to redouble my efforts to lose the weight on my own.  I started going to the gym six days a week.  I had a plan: three days cardio and three days strength training, along with keeping a food journal and counting my calories.  Still the weight just wouldn’t come off!  Believe it or not, I kept my positive attitude for six months.  I kept telling myself I just have to keep working at it and don’t give up.  After six months, it was obvious to me that I needed help.

I was tossing around the idea of doing the Hitch Fit Program with my husband.  I told him they had a couples boot camp program and we could get healthy together.  So, when he finally agreed to do it with me, we signed up.  I remember the day we got our plans in the e-mail from Micah.  We read through them and I looked at him and said, “How are we going to do this with two kids, and both of us working full time!”  Let me tell you it wasn’t easy.  I had to plan everything!  Planning was the key to my success.  I scheduled my workouts, my food prep time, everything!  Every single week we had to get out our planners, sit down, and discuss what each of us planned on doing at the gym and when we would be able to work around each others schedules.

The program was intense!  I remember people asking me how I could handle going to the gym so often.  The answer is simple; I was already used to going to the gym six days a week!  The real adjustment for me was the diet.  I needed guidance with what to eat and when to eat it.  That’s the great thing about Hitch Fit!  Your diet plan is designed specifically for you with your goals in mind.  I definitely would say the diet was a test of my willpower.  Anytime I would go to a function that involved food, I had family, friends, and co-workers challenging my food choices.  I really had to stick to my guns and stay focused.

After I started my program, I really began to see changes.  My clothes were getting loose on me and the weight was coming off fast!  I had so many people at the gym complimenting me on my weight loss!  One guy even used the phrase “It’s like a transformation!”  Exactly!  Even though I had a lot of success, this was still a challenge.  I was certainly not perfect and I did have times when I failed.  After my first four weeks, I got one of the worst phone calls of my life.  I answered the phone and my father was on the other end of the line.  He told me my mother was in the hospital and may have had a stroke.  I went straight to the hospital and prayed for her recovery.  That whole week I had trouble with my diet.  I was so stressed and was just eating because I had all this nervous energy.  I wasn’t sleeping well at all.  That was the first week I gained weight during my program.  I had been e-mailing Micah regularly every week with the online support and he always knew just what to say.  That week was no different.  He told me to just breathe and realize we all make mistakes.  We cannot change the past, but we can learn to change our bad habits for the future.

That has been the biggest challenge of all, not the exercise, not the diet, but the change in thinking.  I had to really analyze how I think about food and my weight on the scale.  I had to learn that even though my diet may not always be perfect and I may not always lose weight on the scale, I just had to continue living the Hitch Fit lifestyle and I would succeed.  I am somewhat of a perfectionist, so this was a hard lesson to learn.  I am a believer in if you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all.  That is definitely not the right mindset to have when trying to change yourself.  But I am also not a quitter, and I was determined to do my best.

So I did the best I could for 16 weeks!  Was it hard?  Of course it was!  But the things in life worth having always are.  All the hours in the gym, all the time spent planning and prepping for my day, and all the effort to change myself was worth it.  Now I am done!  I completed the Lose Weight Feel Great program and the time went by quicker than you can imagine!  I am amazed with myself and Hitch Fit!  Micah and Diana have a program that really works.  You get out of this exactly what you put into it.  You have to work for it, but it’s totally worth it.  I am so much healthier and happier.  Doing this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I have to thank Micah for all the continuing support and positive words throughout my transformation!  He truly cares about his clients and he really brings that caring, positive energy into every response that I got from him.  Also, my husband Aaron, I could not have done this without your strength and support.  A big thank you to my sister-in-law Amy Gipson, you inspired me to change my life!  Thank you to all my friends and family as well for all your support.  Believe, Transform, Inspire!
