9 Healthy Snacks for People On the Go

Let’s face it—we all have jam-packed days. From the moment the alarm goes off at 6:00 in the morning to the moment we close our eyes at 11:00pm, most of us truly are on the go. From exercising to picking up the kids from school, from veterinary appointments to soccer games, from preparing a family meal to finishing up the laundry, our days seem to be crammed full. But if you don’t make room for a few healthy snacks throughout the day, you could be starving your body!! That’s why Hitch Fit has put together a list of 9 healthy snacks for people on the go! Have these snacks on hand at all times and you’ll avoid going into starvation mode…even for the busiest of bees!

1. Raw, unsalted almonds
We love almonds because they’re nutritional and most importantly, filling! Eating a small portion of almonds can actually help you steer clear of unhealthy snack foods when you’re craving a bit of crunch. Almonds are full of vitamin E, magnesium and fiber and also provide protein, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and monounsaturated fat.

2. Pistachios
We’re on a nut kick! Add pistachios to your pantry as well for an even more satisfying, crunchy snack.Pistachios have actually been proven to burn off belly fat and are choked full of lean protein for muscle growth. Plus, pistachios are made up of over 30 other vitamins, minerals and healthy nutrients!

3. Baby carrots
Eat your veggies! Baby carrots are tasty, crisp and will fill you up quickly! Lucky for us, baby carrots are also super low in calories and fat but high in vitamin A and fiber. Fill up a container or a Ziploc bag with baby carrots and snack away!

4. Sliced cucumbers
Much like baby carrots, sliced cucumbers are another refreshing and nutritious snack. The great thing about cucumbers is that they have a very high content of water. Keep in mind that cucumbers are low in calories, low in sugar but high in vitamin C, B vitamins and calcium.

5. Whey isolate protein shakes
Low fat diet shakes are great to have in the fridge when you need breakfast on the go…but be careful! Many of these diet shakes are high in sugar, so make sure to look at the nutritional facts before buying. Try out Quattro by Magnum Nutraceuticals if you want a healthy shake on-the-go!

6. Hard boiled eggs
Make a few hardboiled eggs the night before (eggs that are a bit older work the best for peeling) and refrigerate overnight. You’ll have a delicious snack (or 12) for the entire week! Hardboiled eggs can be put in a bag and eaten for a quick protein snack.

7. Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds are lower in fat than other nuts and seeds. Plus, they’re a great source of fiber, magnesium and potassium as well as protein, iron, phosphorous and zinc. What a perfect snack for fall!

8. Apples
Remember: an apple a day keeps the doctor away (and perhaps extra fat, too!). Although fruit is higher in sugar than in snacks such as cucumbers and baby carrots, fruits like apples and bananas will fill you up in between meals.

9. Bottled water!
Don’t forget your bottled water! Many times, our bodies may give us signs of hunger, when in reality, we’re just dehydrated. Keep a bottle of water on you at all times and you will always feel fuller throughout the day.
