Weight Loss After 50
Weight loss after 50. The doctor’s told Veronica that the weight gain she was experiencing was “normal” and there was nothing she could do. As peri-menopause began, they told her to accept her body just as it was! But Veronica saw women in their 50’s who were fit and in shape. So she knew that it WAS possible to get in great shape, she just needed guidance!

Inspiration for women over 50
Veronica’s story is SO inspiring!! She and her sister Cynthia (who both came to Kansas City all the way from Georgia for their Hitch Fit after pictures and to meet Micah and Diana), are amazing examples of what can be achieved when you commit to healthy living, over the age of 50 and beyond!! Over the course of her Hitch Fit plan she has lost over 35 pounds of fat, and WOW what a remarkable change!

Veronica’s Weight Loss After 50 Hitch Fit Transformation Story:
“About six years ago (2013) I started having issues with my weight when I became perimenopausal. As someone who had always been thin and wearing a size 4/6 for decades, I found myself in a very frustrating point. My base weight had always been 133 to 138 pounds while weight training with my lowest bodyfat being 17%. Over the next 5 years I went through a constant yo-yo with my weight dropping down to the 150’s and at my highest in 2018 I was 195 pounds.
Two major incidents lead to my eventual transformation. In June of 2018, my mother a nurse, succumbed to stomach cancer. My mother was born with congestive heart failure and survived on a pacemaker/defibrillator the last eight years of her life. As the executor of my mom’s estate, and the stress of her unexpected death, I saw myself balloon from 175 to 195 (Not that 175 was great). I was constantly ill with frequent infections and joint pains, as well as acid reflux. I knew I needed to make a change and get healthy, but I just seemed stuck.
The pivotal change in my story came in the Fall of 2018, I believe it was September to be exact. I was watching YouTube and Dr. Kamilah Stevenson’s TEDx Talk, “Thinking Your Way Into Health” came up in my feed. She shared a powerful testimony on how she was aspiring for the Olympics in track and field and how health issues derailed that dream. She did not realize that her style of nutrition had jeopardized her health.
By the time Dr. Kamilah had concluded the TEDx Talk, with tears in my eyes I went to my cupboard and refrigerator and threw away every processed item. I immediately called my sister and told her about the TEDx Talk and texted it to her. I told her I was ready for a change and asked her to join me. I went on a sugar detox and over the next 6 weeks I lost about 17 pounds, dropping from 195 to 178.
Weight Loss During Menopause is Possible
Simultaneously, I reached out to Hitch Fit where Diana became my trainer. I had been fans of both her and Micah for years and frequently read the transformation stories but failed to act as a result of buying into the menopausal weight gain myth. After hearing Dr. Kamilah’s story, I was now committed to become one of their transformation stories. I knew that my diet was the root cause and I needed help. Both my sister Cynthia and I signed up for a program the week before Thanksgiving – so that tells you how serious we were (smile).
What has been so rewarding for me in my transformation is not only weight loss, down from 195lbs to 143 (I was 178 pounds when I started my first Hitch Fit program a year ago and I am down to 143, dropping from 38% bodyfat to 26%); but having the ability to motivate or be a role model for others at my job. Now, my weight loss was not a fast process and my co-workers were able to see my consistency and how my hard work paid off. I have seen many of them adopt healthier practices and resume exercise programs. My co-workers kept me motivated and held me accountable to my goals.
This is just Phase 1 of my transformation. My current transformation was not an overnight success. But consistently committing to get up at 4 a.m. to work-out became a lifeline. Even as my sister and I lost weight we encountered personal loss with the passing of many loved ones during our first year with Hitch Fit as a result of illness. But we kept our focus and consistency. Loss and grief are a part of life but also a moment in time.
Diana and Micah were such a support with their words of encouragement and comfort. We’d watch their posts on Facebook and Instagram and it kept us going. I am so grateful to Hitch Fit and Magnum Nutraceuticals for helping me get back on track!
My sister and I all already planning Phase 2. I’ve set my goal to gain 15 pounds of muscle and drop 20 pounds of fat by this time next year – and 17% bodyfat.”
