50 and Fit
Online Client Sheds FAT and Runs FASTEST Half Marathon of her life
Hey ladies who think you can’t be 50 AND FIT..I’ve got an awesome and inspiring story for you today! So proud of Hitch Fit Online Fitness Training client Jill! Jill is a runner, this little lady had some big goals for running as she turned 50, she knew that the only way she was going to achieve those goals was to be leaner and faster! She signed up for the Hitch Fit Online Fitness Model Plan at one of the most challenging times of the year, right before Christmas, but that didn’t deter her. In fact, knowing she had a goal in mind helped her get through the holidays making fitness progress every single week! Jill is such an inspiration. I loved getting her weekly updates. She was like an excited kid in a candy shop as each week she discovered what she was really capable of, and as she continued to see her body change. Jill’s focus for this time had to change on getting lean (not easy for someone who doing so much running!) but she trusted me when I told her that if she would focus on getting lean and then get back to her running, she would be faster and stronger! Jill shed 25 pounds of fat and over 10% body fat! She hit a PERSONAL BEST time with her Half Marathon running it in 1:47 !! Amazing job Jill!! So proud of you!! Can’t wait to see what other new records you set for yourself!

Jill’s Story:
“My experience with the 12 week Hitch Fit Fitness Model program was absolutely AMAZING! In early December, when I considered signing up for the program, I had no idea how in just three quick months, it would shake up my world in so many incredible ways. With my transformation, I’ve achieved unbelievable results in aspects even beyond just my fitness level and Diana’s phenomenal support throughout my entire journey was so valuable.
As my 50th birthday was on the horizon, I was extremely proud of my success in so many aspects of my life. I’m so appreciative of my good health and every day is a bonus for me. When I was 37, I had the extremely scary diagnosis of melanoma and it was life changing for me. A harmless looking mole that showed up on my leg out of nowhere would have been fatal if not removed. I made every deal with God that if he got me through it, I promised to put my legs to work and push the limits every single day. And that’s when I started running and running and running! It’s beyond my passion and I believe I’ve fulfilled my end of the bargain with God by just completing my 25th marathon in NYC this past November. I’ve run three marathons fast enough to qualify for the Boston marathon (the “holy grail” for runners) and had the honor of running in Boston in 2010 and 2011. Just as I was at the top of my game, it all came crashing down. I had my thyroid removed in 2004 and rely on a tiny pill for my energy and metabolism. I have Hashimoto’s, an auto immune disease, which was harmless, but in 2012 it decided to invade my world in a negative way. My energy levels dropped to zero and I gained 20 pounds almost over night. I could barely get out of bed much less run a mile. My life was interrupted for quite a while as I addressed the autoimmune condition and wanted so desperately to improve my level of fitness to where I used to be.
Although I’m an accomplished marathon runner, the one area I couldn’t impact no matter what I did was weight loss. I’m obsessed with working out and thought I was making healthy food choices. A typical day of eating for me was one egg for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and a handful of cheez-its at night for what I called dinner. I was in a downward cycle of eating less and less and running more and more and the scale never budged. Since I started running, my biggest dream is to run a 50 mile ultramarathon the year I turned 50. I knew to make this a reality I need to be as lean as possible. Before I signed up for Hitch Fit, I contacted Diana and asked her if I had two competing goals with always training for a marathon and simultaneously trying to lose weight. She gave me the honest answer I really didn’t want to hear of “yes” and told me if I signed up for her program, I’d need to temporarily give up my focus on running to allow my body to try some new things. She promised that when I started running again, I’d come back stronger than ever. As a runner logging 40 to 50+ miles a week, cutting back on running seemed impossible for me to consider, but I was willing to trust Diana’s expertise and give it a shot.
I started the Hitch Fit Fitness Model program right in the middle of the holiday season on Dec 15. While I thought this might have been foolish, it was the best decision I could have ever made. I had “my eye on the prize” of “ME” and the goal of being in better shape by my 50th birthday in mid March. If I could be disciplined through the hardest time of the year, I knew I could stick with it any time of year. The Hitch Fit comprehensive program was easy to follow. All I needed to execute was discipline and I knew I had plenty of it. I have so much respect for what Diana has accomplished to achieve her elite fitness level. I wanted to proudly report in weekly, that I was 100% on plan for nutrition, strength training, and cardio. Week after week I consistently did that and never missed a beat!
I went to countless holiday parties and while the food every where was tempting, I didn’t eat any of it! It was very empowering to know that none of that junk was going to help me meet my goals and I could easily walk away from it. For the first time ever, my scale started moving…in the right direction! Apparently my body likes me to eat because as I ate 10x more food than what I was used to the scale moved drastically down. While at first it seemed overwhelming to actually prepare a meal for myself, it quickly became second nature. Cooking is not strength of mine and I’ve even failed at making jello. Diana’s plan made it very easy and I loved knowing I was fueling my body with the healthy foods it needed.
I thought I would go crazy if I couldn’t run every day, but didn’t miss it at all. I really enjoyed trying other forms of cardio with my spinning bike and elliptical machine. And when I did hop on my treadmill, I made sure each run was a quality run instead of logging miles just to get in miles. Strength training has certainly become my new hobby and I am stronger than ever. I can’t believe how much more I was able to lift with each month of the program.
My 12 week program went so fast and having Diana “by my side” was key to my success. The most challenging part of the entire program for me was dealing with other people’s reactions. While I thought everyone would support me and share my excitement when I started seeing results, that wasn’t my reality. I owe Diana many “copayments” for helping “counsel” me to dismiss the negative reactions I encountered and focus on the compliments of so many more.
I’m proud to say that the new 50 year old version of Jill is better than ever! I’m excited that my journey to a healthier lifestyle is just beginning and I can continue to set new goals for myself and achieve them. While the reduction in my weight and body fat is a great measure of what I’ve achieved, my other successes go beyond that. Trading in my size 6 wardrobe for 4’s (and some 2’s!) is beyond fun! While I thought I had plenty of confidence before my transformation, I’m taking things to the next level. My ultimate “test” was a race to see if I could prove Diana’s prediction that my running would come back stronger. The woman sure knows what she’s doing!. I just ran my FASTEST time EVER in a half marathon, without really training for it, and finished in 1:47 (just over 8 minute miles for 13.1 miles) and I’m 50! My running friends tease me that I must be on Performance Enhancing Drugs to be running faster than ever (and now faster than many of them!). I know the 50 miler will be a reality for me now and I’ve registere for an ultra in the fall. I’m proud to have reached the V.P. level in my career and was more than satisfied with this accomplishment. During my transformation, I had an opportunity to pursue a new, high visibility position still at the V.P. level with a two grade promotion. The transformation gave me the courage I needed to pursue it and I was just offered the position! My biggest desire is to inspire others to go through the incredible Hitch Fit journey. It’s already happening and I can’t wait to see their transformations! I can’t thank Diana enough for a program that goes beyond just blowing your fitness goals away. DREAM BIG! The best is yet to come!”
