Piper’s Story and Hitch Fit Review:
“The majority of my life I have been active and involved in sports, or running and trying to stay fit and healthy. I have fought my weight since I was 12 years old and never could eat whatever I wanted, or whenever I wanted. I was going about weight loss the hard way, or just plain the wrong way. Following the same formula that most do, starve yourself to lose weight in addition to crazy amounts of cardio. I did this for decades and really thought I was going about things the right way.
I have always been very conscientious about what I ate, but again, was close to eating right, but not eating enough of the rights things at the right times. There is a better way than the way I went about it all these years, and while it isn’t a light switch and does take hard work, it is something that can be done. If only I knew then what I know now!
Life moved forward and I would add running and walking as often as I could in between two head on car wrecks, raising three children, and working since I was 13 years old. Fast forward to the past two years. My husband and I were not prioritizing our health. We both worked long hours most every day, ate out quite a bit and were not making time to work out. We definitely were not prioritizing our health. See Her Husband Jim’s Story
Sometimes Life Hits You With Stress
I had an extremely stressful job and cortisol was wreaking havoc with my body and I started noticing how it was affecting my health. I was spiraling downward and knew I had to do something about myself. We both focused on working out and getting healthy. That lasted for me for about four months until I ended up with a running injury and then went back to my workaholic ways and didn’t make time to be healthy.
My husband had been making great progress and was finishing his transformation with Micah at HitchFit this past Spring. He was healthier than he had been since high school. I on the other hand was not working out and was slowly adding weight despite eating less and less. The morning that I stepped on the scales and weighed more than when I was pregnant was the day that I said enough was enough. Or as Micah would say, “I was ready to get serious” and get Fit over 50.
The Vicious Weight Loss Cycle
Over the years, I had to start over multiple times to get “back in shape” in an attempt to maintain a good quality of life. My weight would inch up and and I would get it back in check somewhat. Each time I would go back to what I thought was the right way to get in shape and keep my weight down. This always entailed eating healthy things, but not always eating very much and a lot of running. I have always been a runner my entire life, but have not been able to run like I used to before my car accidents. But I kept trying to run through various different running injuries/issues.
Let’s not forget to factor in getting older and how it makes it more difficult to keep the weight off. For any woman that has reached that point in her life where we “get” to experience an entirely new sort of fun, I don’t have to tell you how much fun it is to feel like you may spontaneously combust at any moment. Your body responds much slower than it used to in just about every way. I am happy to tell you that your body can respond with the right direction and guidance, however. It is not easy, but I promise it is worth it.
The best part is you don’t have to starve yourself. I reached a weight I had not seen since high school and I did it in in 4 months. Truthfully, I was skeptical that I could ever get to the target weight Micah said I could reach. I just knew how hard I tried before and never came close. I am happy to say he was right as I reached my lowest weight since high school. Now I know how to maintain that high quality of life and live life to the fullest. It is sort of like having all the answers to the test before taking the test.
Funny story, it was time to renew my driver’s license last week and when they asked me if everything was accurate, I got to tell them my weight was wrong. It was too high! Happy birthday to me!”
Your Health Matters
Health is everything, and quality of life matters. If I am lucky enough to be like the majority of my family, I get to have another 40+ years and I want to be in the best shape I can be and live life to the fullest every day of it. I want to experience everything I can “with” my family and not just hear about all that they are doing. I want to be out there playing with my grand children and not just watching from through the living room window. With knowledge and guidance from Micah at Hitch Fit, I learned how to achieve and maintain a better way of living. I will be forever grateful for all the support from my friends and family.
