Mother of 2 Steps on Stage for first time at age 40 and places 4th in Bikini Competition!

Today’s transformation is Veronica. She is a rock star. This mother of two decided that she wanted to be in the best shape of her life when she hit 40 and wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream of competing as a Bikini Model!! Veronica has Celiac Disease, so her program was created for her Gluten Free since she has allergies to wheat. She began her Hitch Fit journey with a Bikini Model program, but part way through decided she was ready to achieve her goal and step on stage! Veronica teamed up with Lindsay Messina’s NY Divas to learn how to rock the stage. She transitioned over the Competition Prep program and we were off and running! She worked hard and made great progress. She stepped on stage in October 2012 and in her first competition she landed 4th place!! Veronica inspired many people around her throughout her journey, including her family who were all there to cheer her on!! Congrats Veronica on an amazing job, very proud of you!!

Veronica’s Story:

“My name is Veronica Aguirre-O’Connor, but my friends call me ‘V’.  I’m from southern California, grew up in Austin, TX and now live in Connecticut with my husband and 2 beautiful daughters (ages 17 and 7).  I am 39 yrs young and as I approached my 40th birthday, I wanted to be in the best shape of my life, both from a mental perspective to physical strength.  I wanted to finally make the changes I needed so I could be the best version of myself, but most importantly, to be comfortable in my own skin.  As a woman, I struggle with body image issues and so I always kept myself active, constantly challenging my body.  I feel most alive when I’m working my body hard.  My choice of activity was running; I ran the NYC marathon for my 30th birthday and continued running any races – 10k, half marathons and also ventured into triathlons.  While I enjoyed them, I knew I wanted to do more, I knew I could do more.  Then a fitness class at a local gym changed my life forever and a special instructor turned into a life-long friend that inspired me to push, dig deep and challenge myself more.  I also met amazing women in this class that would infuse my life with love and laughter beyond measure. So after much research and deep contemplation, I decided to sign up with HitchFit.  I started with their Bikini Program and after several weeks of continued progress I changed to the Competition Program because I wanted to walk on that stage!  From a nutritional perspective, Diana tailored my program specifically for me because I have Celiac’s disease.  I knew though the workouts and nutrition wouldn’t be the only items to change; I needed to surround myself with support.  From a support perspective, I joined the NY Divas and found a genuine second family of fiercely determined and beautifully strong like-minded women.  So now I felt ready to take on this ultimate challenge for myself.  I knew I could handle the workouts and even the strict nutrition, but I  wanted to finally accept my body and learn to truly appreciate what it gives me on a daily basis.  In the end, I absolutely gained physical strength, but more importantly I learned how to trust myself, to stay positive in challenging times and I learned how to love myself.   When I finally walked that stage, it was exhilarating and beyond exciting and even more so when I actually placed 4th in Bikini Classic at my very first show.  While beaming with smiles from ear to ear and holding my trophy, I saw in the audience my family and friends and I felt all their love and support.  It was a very proud moment in my life!  I accomplished my goal and asked my body to give me the very best it could – it did.  I feel that I gave myself an early 40th birthday present!  So keep pushing and challenging yourself to continue to grow in every way possible; you just might be astounded with the final outcome.  Set your goals high and best of luck on your next journey in life!”
