Over 50 Women – Hitch Fit Transformer Gets in BEST shape at age 59
We LOVE us some Nancy Choquette at Hitch Fit! Nancy went through a Hitch Fit transformation a couple years ago at the downtown Hitch Fit Gym location in Kansas City. The experience changed her life so much that she wanted to become a part of the team and be a trainer herself! When she first approached me to see if there was an opportunity for her with Hitch Fit, it was an instant yes. At 59 years young she is a BUNDLE of positive energy. She loves helping other people achieve their goals, and she is exactly what Hitch Fit is all about! Stop by the Hitch Fit Gym site and check out Nancy’s trainer profile HERE. Nancy came to me at the beginning of 2015 with a new goal that she wanted to achieve for herself. The WBFF Kansas City show was coming up, and she wanted to take on the challenge of competing for her very first time. I was honored and delighted to be able to coach her through the process. It was a challenge of course, Nancy is a busy gal, training clients at the downtown gym, working at Southwest airlines and prepping for a show all at the same time is a lot to take on. But she handled it like she does everything else in life, with a take charge attitude and a smile on her face. It was awesome seeing the changes that Nancy went through. She is SUCH an inspiration to women, of course to those who want to be 50 and FIT just like her, but more than that, she is an inspiration to ALL women. There is no age limit when it comes to pursuing new goals and dreams, taking on new challenges and succeeding! Nancy stepped on stage at the WBFF Kansas City on May 30th and she was AMAZING. Not only was she physically in awesome shape, but her big bright light of a personality just beamed through for everyone to see. So proud of this amazing woman!!

Nancy’s Story:
“My name is Nancy Choquette, and I am 59 years old. About a year ago I set some specific goals; one was to become a Certified Personal Trainer, and the second was to compete in a fitness show, as a Bikini Competitor. Both have been accomplished, and I say that with humility and pride.
I didn’t just wake up one day with those goals. They’ve been evolving over the past couple of years since I did my initial transformation at Hitch Fit gym. It was Spring of 2013 when I finished my transformation. I loved Hitch Fit so much that I didn’t want to leave–ever! I loved what I learned about nutrition, I loved the positive environment, the trainers, but most of all I loved how my experience at Hitch Fit changed me as a person. I found strength within that I didn’t know I had, I was able to establish focus and boundaries that were necessary to complete my program and achieve my results. I transformed on many levels, not just physically. I told my trainer I didn’t want to leave, and she suggested I obtain my Personal Trainer Certificate and return to Hitch Fit to train others. She also mentioned during my transformation that I should compete in a fitness show. The first suggestion really intrigued me, and sparked a big interest, like a light bulb going off in my head! The second idea about doing a fitness show scared me to death! But at the same time, I realized that my trainer believed in me and thought I could do it. I rolled it over in my mind and decided I was too old to do that.
Fast forward to June of 2014. I started my training and education to become a Certified Personal Trainer and by October 2014 I was certified with all the necessary credentials, and started my training career in November 2014 at Hitch Fit gym–dream come true!
All along, this idea about being a competitor in a fitness show kept coming back to me, then I would dismiss it, back and forth, over and over. Too scared, too old. That’s what I thought. By February 2015 I realized that I was just not going to be satisfied if I didn’t commit to doing it, and work hard to press through the fear, the doubt, the unknown, to the day where I could say, I did it! I had to know for myself that I really could do this challenge.
It wasn’t easy. The hardest thing was to fully admit, and be confident about it, that at the age of 59 I was actually going to do this! I was going to take this body of mine and transform it to compete on a stage with other beautiful, hard-working athletes, gorgeous women, some of whom were 35-40 years younger than I am! Was I crazy? I reminded myself of a turtle, whose head would come out of its shell for awhile (me feeling good and confident about my decision), and then all of a sudden, hide my head back in my shell again–(me just full of doubt, and saying to myself, “What were you thinking? Why did you think this was a good idea?”)!
The nutrition and exercise plans were easy in comparison to the mental battle with self to overcome myself! The show I chose to participate in was the WBFF Kansas City slated for May 30, 2015. That was my goal! I began my preparation in February 2015, then got sick two weeks later, so I had to overcome that discouragement right off the bat, and keep working. I kept doing everything I was supposed to do, and I believe it took until the beginning of May before I fully came to terms with the fact that I really was going to do this, and be on that stage! It was real!
The day finally came! I met so many wonderful people through this experience, and learned so much about myself. One of the most rewarding things that happened was that my fellow competitors didn’t look at me like an old lady but as an inspiring role model! I never would have thought that! To be on stage was exhilarating, a little scary, but truly a celebration of everything I worked hard for! It was time to let my light shine, and it was fun! To achieve a dream that had been culminating for about two years, fills me with pride and humility. I feel thankful that I am able to do the things I want to do, and not let age stop me. Is it easy to meet challenges? No! The battle is inside yourself, but to overcome fear and doubt is such a great victory!
For those women in their fifties–or any one for that matter–I want to testify to this: It is never too late, you are not too old, you are smart enough, good enough, valuable enough to do whatever it is that you want to do! We all have dreams, and thoughts that go through our minds that no one else knows about. Little battles. Find your courage, take the steps, move forward in the direction you want to go, and even if you aren’t sure in the beginning, you will Believe in the end, when you achieve your dream!”
