Hitch Fit Superstar Amy Competes with WBFF and lands 3rd in Diva Bikini Model division!

She’s back again!! Yes, that’s right, our very own Amy G, who has inspired SO many people in the last 2 years since her first transformation came out!! This time she decided she was ready to challenge herself to the next level and get ready for the WBFF Central US Championships 2013 in Kansas City, competing in the WBFF Diva Bikini Model division! Amy has maintained her Hitch Fit lifestyle since her first transformation, so she didn’t have lots of scale weight to lose this time around, and she has also spent some quality months building lean muscle to add even more shape to her physique. She fine tuned things to get her stage ready Bikini Body with me for her Online Competition Prep for the stage.  She did AMAZING at her very first competition taking home 3rd place on the WBFF stage!! I think you will be seeing more of her in the future too! So proud of this little lady, of all she has done and continues to do to inspire those around her! Congrats Amy!!

Amy’s Story:

It’s been two years since my first transformation and I can’t believe I am sitting here writing another testimonial for transformation #3! More so, I can’t believe I made it through the competition preparation program and the actual WBFF competition itself! But, when I look back at my past, there’s something I have learned about myself along the way, there is really nothing I don’t set out to accomplish when I put my mind to it. With that said, this time around was a lot different than my first two transformations.  If you recall, in my first transformation, I wanted to lose the weight and that physical change was a huge goal of mine. Then, in my second transformation, I wanted to really expand on the muscle building aspect, but those pesky mind games were something I really wanted to conquer, as well. That transformation was both a physical and mental change for me. As for this transformation, I wanted strive and achieve something that everyone should do every so often… I wanted to prove to myself that I, too, can push myself and compete with an elite group of people who love doing what I have found a passion for; I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone and put myself in a very vulnerable state. I felt that in order for me to continue to grow physically and mentally, that this is what I needed to do to be even stronger. I wanted to inspire others, I wanted someone (even if it’s just one person) to look at me and say that “because of me, I didn’t give up.” Only time will tell if I succeeded at the latter, but I can for sure say that by doing this competition I went from being comfortable into a good state of vulnerability; therefore, I feel that I am stronger physically and mentally by going through with it. Of course I had high days, where I felt great, I was getting leaner, posing was the most fun to me and then I had low days where I wasn’t sure that I could pull myself together to accomplish this goal.  I second guessed my decision to do the competition a lot, but I knew that if I didn’t do it, then I would be failing myself. Thankfully, I had the support of my family, friends, my trainer (Miss Diana), my posing coach (Miss Emily) and the rest of the Hitch Fit team, my KC Divas (especially Kelli and Amber –since they got the brunt of my low days) to help me through both the good and the bad.

I can never truly explain the joy of competition day though. As much as I tried to live in the moment at every moment, there are certain pieces that I can pinpoint and then there are the blurs.  For example, I can absolutely recall that delicious pancake I ate the morning of the show…oh my gosh it was so mouth- watering good. I recall the minute I walked backstage to make my entrance in this itty-bitty bikini and I said to myself, “I can do this,” lay it all on the floor and just have fun. I recall the support from the audience and tears shared with dear friends backstage. I recall the first cheat food I put in my mouth (a delicious piece of pizza) and I recall my name being said during call-outs and awards. Hands down, apart from my wedding day and my children being born, that was one of the most memorable experiences ever. What a wonderful rush of excitement it was! Someone once said, “that the finish line is just the beginning of a whole new race.” I get it…two years ago, I never would have imagined gaining a passion for fitness and health, let alone competing in front of hundreds with the best of the best, but with each transformation there was a step away from another transformation. I feel that you continue to grow by the circumstances in your life, every day, month and year you’re striving to be a better person.

So, I always enjoy sharing a few questions/answers that I personally get asked during transformation. Here are just a few:

How many hours did you spend in the gym?

–          Actually, I maybe went to the gym twice a week to work out! That was for weight purposes and social purposes (I got to work out with a very good friend at least once a week. Kelli Manson I don’t know what I would do without you). However, the other five days a week I did my workouts all at home and when the kiddos were napping. I got through all three transformations by doing 90% of the work with dumbbells and a treadmill in my basement of my own home. Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to go to a gym to succeed. Yes, there are times where you would want to have the weight needed to gain muscle or a machine but otherwise; there are ways to get it done with limited equipment. As far as time associated with each workout, I did 45 minutes of strength training 6 days a week and up to 30 min of high intensity cardio 4 days a week.

Did you like starving yourself to compete?

–          I don’t know how many times I had to answer this question.  There was no starving myself to do the competition. With that said, I was pretty lean starting out. I didn’t carb-cycle at all. I ate completely balanced with good, clean foods. I didn’t do hours of cardio. You have to remember you can’t build muscle while starving the body at the same time, short bouts of high intensity cardio are better for my body type than long steady state cardio.

Will I compete again?

–          I do feel that I will compete again. It was an amazing experience and I would love the opportunity to do it again.  It’s possible that I may try to make a yearly appearance on stage as that will give me a yearly goal to strive for.

So, what’s next for you since you’ve basically done the whole gammit of Hitch Fit programs?

–          Well, I plan to try to put on some muscle in the next months. I don’t foresee my desire to be fit to decrease now that I have done many of the Hitch Fit programs. After all, being fit was a lifestyle change for me and one hobby that I now truthfully love. Furthermore, I have started studying to become an ACE certified personal trainer myself. I feel this urge to help people feel their very best through proper diet and exercise. I can totally relate and empathize with those who do feel as if they need a change.

What did you write as your philosophy/final words for the shows bio form?

–          I wrote these final words:

“Smile, share joy and kindness, play outside, dance in the rain, eat a cupcake (every once in a while), smell the roses, sing loud and proud, be happy, listen and learn, laugh out loud, snuggle and hug, be thoughtful and gracious, dream big and enjoy life!”

I feel that these words represent me and what I try to live by. After all, the best curve on your body is a happy smile!!!”
