WBFF Diva Bikini and Fitness Model Lori Bell
Lori’s Bio: Olathe, KS. As a 31 year old working wife and mother it’s hard to find time to focus on myself. I started my weight loss journey in 2003 when I tipped the scales at 180 lbs and started having health issues. I went to the doctor who told me that if I didn’t figure out what was broken I would be on pills for the rest of my life; I was 23 at the time! Those words have stuck with me ever since. I joined weight watchers and lost around 20 lbs within 6 weeks and started feeling much better. My health issues were disappearing, but my body wasn’t what I was hoping for. So over the next few years I continued to drop weight slowly, never regaining it. Even as a single parent I was able to make small changes that resulted in slow fat loss. I remarried in 2009, a year and a half later my husband and I faced a miscarriage, I had always looked forward to the day I could have another child. Many women face this challenge in their life, some continue trying, but I felt like I was pushing my body to do something it wasn’t going to do. Faced with this my husband and I made the decision we would not be having any more children. Needless to say this affected me in so many ways; I was depressed, emotional and hormonal! Then it hit me, this was my opportunity to fix all the things that were broken within myself and push myself like I had never done before. I was in the Air Force right out of high school and knew that type of training so that’s what I started with, running and running, but again my body wasn’t taking on the shape I wanted. It was time to hit the weights! One of my good friends Shannon Klepac was a personal trainer and was helping me to reshape my body. Competing had always been in the back of my mind and so I figured that would give me the push I needed to really get the shape back that I wanted. So I started looking for a personal trainer with competing background and I found Liz Kampschroeder from Laser Sharp Fitness, one of the most amazing women I have ever met! She will also be “blinging” out my suit and costume for the WBFF Show. And so here we are on this journey to the May 12, 2012 WBFF Central Championships Competition!!!
What are your future goals: After competing this year, I am looking forward to several opportunities arising from this. One of my long term goals is to end up in a publication someday. Maybe even become a personal trainer myself. Who knows, right now the journey is wide open and I am open to new and exciting things coming my way!
What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals: That’s a loaded question, I’ve faced numerous obstacles. As a single parent I was working full time and going to school to finish my bachelors and masters degrees. Financial obstacles, time obstacles, food addiction obstacles. We all have these it’s a matter of whether you are going to let it define you!
How can people find out more about you: You can find me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/kcmolori
Anyone you would like to thank: My mom for supporting me and helping me with my son Anthony through the years. My husband Nathan and son Anthony for supporting me during my many meltdowns over tilapia. The numerous other competitors that I’ve met because whether they know it or not, they inspire me. Diana and Micah LaCerte for all they are doing for Kansas City and The WBFF. And lastly the two ladies responsible to getting me to this point, Shannon Klepac and Liz Kampschroeder!
