WBFF Figure Competitor Sarah Mae Miller

*Name, Bio and Stats
Sarah Mae Miller
23 years old
I was raised in Willard, Missouri. I grew up playing sports and was involved in Martial Arts at a young age, I was just always a very athletic girl with a love for any kind of fitness and competition. Soccer was always my passion. I loved the challenge of the sport and the dedication and commitment it took. Then after I graduated I discovered lifting, where it was fun for me to see how strong I could get. It was a whole new challenge for me, then my boyfriend suggested doing a show which took it to a whole other level of commitment and dedication. It has been just the challenge that I needed, the type of challenge that I thrive on and love. It’s definetely a sport that is going to be apart of my life for a very long time.
*Where do you live?
Springfield, MO
*What are your athletic achievements and competition history?
I’m an athletic girl. I played all sports and was in Martial Arts starting at a young age. By highschool I had decided to focus on just soccer in which I seemed to excel in. I recieved many district and regional awards. This is my first competiton and I couldn’t be more excited!! I thrive on competition and challenge and I know I’m definetely going to find that and more competing with the WBFF.
*What or who inspires you to compete?
I’m not sure there is any one person that inspires me. I take inspiration from every person I come across on a daily basis. I work at a gym and have met so many great people that come in and are all working towards different goals and for different reasons but work so hard none the less. They all inspire me to accomplish my goals, to be persistent and work as hard as possible. The act of setting a goal and accomplishing that goal, always bettering myself, that is what inspires me. Never settling. I do really look up to Dana Linn Bailey and Kai Greene. I love both of their work ethic and Kai’s mental focus astounds me. I repeat quotes from him during my workouts everyday.
*What excites you most about competing with the WBFF?
The adrenaline rush I know I’m going to get!! I get butterflies just watching videos of the previous year’s shows. The slogan says it all “The best of the best compete with the WBFF” and I’m so excited to be a part of that.
*What are your future goals?
I have so many goals set for myself right now short term and long term. With this being my first show, I want to learn as much as I possibly can. I do want to earn my Pro Card and I want to always be bettering myself for the next show so that I can hopefully go far in this sport. I have big dreams for myself when it comes to competing. The saying goes “if your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough,” and my dreams and goals are huge.
*What obstacles have you overcome to achieve your goals (what’s your story?)
My story is pretty basic, probably the same obstacles as most people. I played soccer until I graduated always using it as my “outlet” and stress reliever from everyday problems. After graduation I needed something to direct my focus towards and fitness ranked pretty high on the priority list so I started hitting up the gym alot. I honestly didn’t know much past basic soccer drills, but ended up getting a job at the gym where I started soaking up as much knowledge as possible. My biggest obstacles have been injury related from previous sports. However, after learning how to use correct form and to take care of those injuries better they haven’t been too much of an issue.
*How can people find out more about you?
I’m on facebook and twitter
*Anyone you would like to thank who has been a part of your fitness journey?
I have to thank my boyfriend, Josh Heob, who is also doing this show. He has been with me through this entire prep, constantly pushing me, motivating me, encouraging me and most importantly always inspiring me with his work ethic and dedication. Josh has helped me with every step in this amazing journey. Next, I owe a huge thanks to Nikki, my coach, I wouldn’t be where I am now without her. She has put in time and effort that she didn’t have to in order to help me get prepared for this show. Also I want to thank so many of the members at my gym that are constantly coming up to me and giving me just that little bit of extra motivation.
