Wbff Athlete – The Natural Freak – Kelechi Opara

Hitch Fit Got the Great Honor of Featuring one of the Bright New Fitness Stars in the Industry Kelechi Opara.  We met in Person at the Wbff 2010 World Championships and have followed him even before that time.  Just from first glance you cannot overlook one of the most insane physiques you have ever seen but getting to know the guy you see so much more.  The guy is full of heart , passion and knowledge.  He is about giving back and teaching people the right way of living life, through proper nutrition and fitness.  I am very proud to call this guy my friend.  His career is going to explode in a very big way so keep your eye out for him!!!

Who is Kelechi Opara?

I’m a former Marine, an entrepreneur ,  an aviation electronics tech and now you can add fitness model


What are the biggest obstacles or setbacks have you had to overcome in your life?

The three that come to mind are rehabbing myself after my motorcycle accident,  over coming one of my best friend’s death and maintaining my fitness level (strength and body composition) when I was in Afghanistan because there was literally nothing there


What are your biggest accomplishments within the fitness industry so far?

The biggest accomplishments in the 9 months I have been in the fitness industry is being signed by  Optimum Nutrition in December and Now Bodybuilding.com .  I can’t say enough about how I admire both companies considering the fact that I utilized them a lot especially when I was overseas! So to be signed by both of them is very surreal because they are the best of the best.


How did you get into fitness modeling and stepping on stage with the Wbff?

It started with a letter to Obi Obadike last year around March.  I asked him what I needed to do to break into the fitness industry.  He was the only fitness model to respond to my email others didn’t  (by the way Micah you are not included in the others because I wasn’t aware of your facebook page though I have seen you on covers)


What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is not fulfilling my potential.  I think it should be anybody’s fear because it means you didn’t live your life to the fullest.


Who have been inspirations to you in your life?
There have been a few. Right off the bat, my parents are the biggest inspiration.  Outside of my family, the people I have been inspired by are  Ryan Deluca, Alan Aragon Micah Lacerte, Obi Obadike,  Chad Shaw and recently Jamie Eason after working with her at the bodybuilding.com commercial plus seeing her interaction with people at the Expo.

What motivates you?

Life’s most urgent and persistent question is what are you doing for others?  This motivates me

Give us a typical week in the gym?
Monday : Legs / 1 exercise of biceps   Tuesday: Back and Shoulders/Abs   Wednesday :  Chest and Triceps   Thursday : Rest   Friday :  Legs/ 1 exercise biceps Saturday: back & shoulders

What is a typical day of diet for you?

It really depends if its the start of the week or the end of the week .  Monday  is a heavy carb day for so Carbs will be over 300 grams with protein being 200 grams

Do you have any favorite supplements?

Before I signed with Optimum Nutrition, I already used there products because of the superior quality.  All my supplement are Optimum nutrition:

Nitrocore 24 a perfect blend of various protein.  In my opinion its the best protein supplement in the market,   Gold standard whey I use this mainly before and during workouts.  Amino Energy  a great pre workout supplement that brings your energy levels up but most important you don’t come crashing down!  Enteric coated fish oil gels, opti men a great multi vitamin with so many benefits to it that you have to see for yourself.

What are your lifetime goals?

I want a lot of people’s lives to have been better because I was here.

I have an Iphone Nutrition app thats meant to help people achieve their goals by providing them with tools to do so and pointing them to resources (like great websites) that will help them maintain what they achieved
