Post Pregnancy Online Personal Training Client Sheds the Fat at 42 Years of Age

I’ve got another amazing mom transformation to share today, gosh I just love these stories!! Kim is actually a former Hitch Fit client who had completed a Lose Weight Feel Great program a couple years back. At 41, she and her husband were blessed with a brand new baby boy, Caden! Such an amazing new blessing! Several weeks post pregnancy Kim was ready to get her fitness levels back on track, not just to look and feel better, but also so that she had plenty of energy for her new little man. She went with the Hitch Fit Post Pregnancy Weight Loss Program ( I Want My Body Back) and our new journey began! Kim did an incredible job, she is a perfect example of “where there’s a will there’s a way”, at 42 years of age she was a bit concerned that she could not get into her former shape. But by making good choices, she got her pre baby body back! Kim shed 21 pounds over the course of 12 weeks. Her body fat went from 30% reading down to 19.72% reading. She’s fit and healthy and already setting an example of healthy living for the new addition to the family! Congratulations Kim!

Kim’s Story:

“My story actually begins almost seven years ago when my husband and I were first married.  Like many couples, we had hopes of starting a family.  But as the years went by, we slowly came to the realization that we might not be able to have the baby we wanted so much.  Unfortunately, in 2011, our plans of starting a family were put on hold following a car accident that left me with chronic back pain.  Once I was on my road to recovery, we resumed our efforts to start a family and were referred to a wonderful doctor who helped us achieve our dream.  After undergoing IVF, on October 28, 2012, we received the wonderful news that we were expecting!  I can’t tell you how excited we were!

I have worked out for years and a few years ago completed the “lose weight feel great” program.  While I would not have been considered overweight at the time, I wanted to get in the best shape of my life.  Thanks to this wonderful Hitch Fit program and Diana’s support, I accomplished my goal.  But due to the side effects of the fertility medications and injections, as well as the emotional ups and downs of the process itself, I began my pregnancy a little heavier than I hoped and of course continued to get bigger throughout my pregnancy.  It also did not help that I developed food aversions to my usual staples – chicken and vegetables.  There was no way I could eat them while I was pregnant.  I could not stand the smell or the taste.  Even chocolate didn’t taste good.  I tried to make the best food choices I could, but ultimately found myself eating pizza and McDonalds at least once a week because they actually tasted good to me.  But I had a plan.  I knew that once the baby was here, I was going to do the Hitch Fit “I want to get my body back” post-pregnancy program.

Fortunately for us, although my pregnancy was considered high risk due to both my age (41) and a blood clotting disorder, I did not experience any complications.  On July 2, 2013, our beautiful baby boy, Caden, was born following an emergency c-section.  Seven weeks after Caden’s birth, I started the “I want my body back” program.  Was it hard to start working out again?  Yes, but mainly because I was tired due to being up a couple times each night with a newborn and adjusting to being a new parent.  Luckily, Caden started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks.  I also had to learn to do my favorite form of cardio – running – again after not being able to run for several months (my doctors recommended against running once I entered my third trimester of pregnancy).  Really, one of the biggest differences for me this time was the fact that my husband and I had to get together and schedule our workouts which was complicated by the fact that I work 40 + hours a week and my husband has a rotating shift; sometimes he works days, sometimes he works evenings, and sometimes he works midnights.  In reality this meant that I was getting up around 4:30 a.m. to get my cardio in and then lifting weights later in the day.  For me the scheduling was key.  I knew exactly how much cardio and which weight workout I ended to do each day so I could meet my goal for the week.

As far as the diet, it was such a relief to be able to eat normal healthy food again after foregoing chicken and vegetables throughout my pregnancy.  And I felt so much better!  I was pretty consistent with my diet during the program, although I must admit I did have some special treats on my birthday!  Throughout this process I lost approximately 1 lb. to 2 lbs. each week although there were a few times when I only lost 1/2 a pound.  Having Diana’s support and encouragement during this time was crucial.  Her encouragement, even when I’d only lost 1/2 a pound, keep me going.  It really helped me to stay positive and to look at my weight loss in the context that I was losing weight each week which was wonderful instead of focusing on the negative.  The other big difference for me was that I kept comparing my weight loss this time with when I did the “lose weight feel great program”.  Of course, this was completely counterproductive.  Not only did I start this transformation at a heaver weight, but also at a different fitness level, and I had just had a baby.  Diana helped me to see that it was far more important to focus on what I was accomplishing now rather than what I had accomplished in the past.  When I first started running again after having Caden, it was hard and I was so slow. But each week I could tell that I was getting faster and it started getting easier.  I’m now back at the level I was prior to being pregnant and it feels great!

One of my goals when I started this program was to be able to fit into my regular clothes when I returned to work.  I have now lost all of the weight I gained during pregnancy and more!  It is awesome to be able to wear my regular clothes again.  Of course, I would not have been able to succeed in this program without the support of my wonderful husband, Diana, my family, and my friends.  At the age of 42, I have been blessed with a beautiful little boy and am so grateful for Diana and Hitch Fit for helping me get back into shape.  But I’m not done yet.  Once again I want to take things to the next level and my plans for the new year include completing the fitness model program.  For all those new moms out there and the ladies who think they can’t lose weight if they are over 40, believe in yourself!  You can do it.  Hitch Fit gives you the workouts, the nutrition program, and the tools you need to be successful.  Follow your program and you will see results.”
