I am super excited to share today’s transformation, Amy, with you! So incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication, as a result, she has achieved so much and I know her story is going to touch and inspire so many others, especially the busy moms out there, to make positive change! Amy is a mother of two, she recently gave birth to her latest bundle of joy Savannah, 8 weeks post pregnancy she decided she wanted to get in shape, not just back to pre pregnancy shape, but in the BEST shape of her life! Amy dedicated herself to the 16 week post pregnancy program, even with the busyness of having a newborn and a 5 year old. Over the course of her journey, she sliced her body fat by more than half, going from 38% to 16.5%! Her scale weight went from 165 down to a svlete bikini body and 123 pounds. The greatest part of transformation for us though, is to see how happy Amy was on her final day when she was able to come in and do her photo shoot. She was simply beaming, glowing from the inside out. Congratulations Amy, on an amazing and inspiring job, Micah and I are both so delighted to have been a part of this journey with you!

Amy’s Stats:

Starting Weight: 165

Starting Body Fat: 38%

Ending Weight: 123

Ending Body Fat: 16.5%

Waist – 36 inches start to 27 inches end

Hips – 42.5 inches start to 36.5 end

Amy’s Story:
My story actually starts in a cold hospital room getting ready to have my second child, a beautiful baby girl going to be named Savannah Bryn, by Cesarean section. It was about 4:30 AM and a nurse had hooked me up to every machine possible before asking me the same hundred questions they asked me the day before. The questions that I dreaded the most were, “What is your age and What is your current weight?” And of course, she had to ask again. I remember looking grimly over to my left to say softly to the nurse 31 years old and about 191 pounds. Then, I looked to my right to see if my husband, Don, heard me say my weight. I will never forget the look on his face. He didn’t have to say a word because that look told me everything. I could read by his facial expression that he was in shock that I weighed almost as much as he does. I recall saying to him, “don’t worry I’ll drop the weight” and I recall thinking to myself, okay so I gained a few pounds (45 pounds almost), but I’ll lose that cause it is all baby weight. Ha, was I wrong! Yeah, I lost about 26 pounds by just having my precious angel, but I could not shed the other 20 pounds that would put me back to pre-pregnancy weight.

After about 7 weeks post-pregnancy, I started researching what was the latest trend in dieting and found myself thinking that if I am going do this, I am going to do it the right way and as with anything I do, give it my all. I don’t want to take pills or anything that is not natural for the human body. After all, my goal was to be healthy and happy for the rest of my life!

I told my husband what I wanted to do and he suggested that I check out a high school friends business (Hitch Fit) and the programs he had to offer. Little did I know, that was the best suggestion my husband has given me thus far because it was exactly what I was looking for! A program where someone spelled out what I was to eat, how much of it I could eat, how much cardio I had to do and strength training to perform to get to a weight where I was happy and not just for the time being, but for the rest of my life. With little or no hesitation at all, I signed up the following few days and I got the opportunity to work with Micah and his lovely wife, Diana.

I recall sending off my first set of questions and initial photos, then getting that first e-mail back from Diana. I remember feeling embarrassed by what I looked like in my photos (I was literally exhausted from all of my nightly feedings) and overwhelmed with what I had on my plate day in and day out, yet here I go adding one more thing to do and it’s something I wasn’t really interested in doing (working out) but I knew I had to do it. With the help and support of Micah and Diana, my family and friends, I took a step back, started my program right away, took things day-by-day and just gave it my all.

Wow, a week went by and it came time to weigh in. It was “The Big Day,“ so I called it. I stepped on that scale and I saw I was down 7 pounds! At that moment, I was hooked. This program was working and now all I have to do is follow it! Sounds easy, huh! Well, though each week did fly by for me, I can’t say it was a breeze. I spent every waking moment of my life taking care of a newborn, a 5 yr old, a husband, a household and working out in my basement. Though it was a challenge, I continuously reminded myself that not only did I have a responsibility to weigh in lower each week to myself and family, but to Micah and Diana. Knowing that, made me work that much harder toward my goal weight of 130 pounds.

Eventually, after much hard work, determination and drive, I hit my goal weight and found that I wasn’t yet satisfied. (If you know me at all, I am never satisfied, I want to push my limits.) So, I set a new goal weight to get in the 120’s. Whew, after some intense cardio and strength training (cause it was harder than heck to shed even a half pound by this time) I came in at 123! I felt like I could conquer the world and still to this day feel that way!

I not only had a good support system on-line through Micah and Diana, but my friends and family! My husband was a blessing to me during this time. He reminded me of what I had achieved, what I could achieve and how great I was doing. I am so thankful for those people who pushed me mentally because it allowed me to push myself physically. Thank you to Don, Jonas, Savannah, Dana, Larry, Tyler, Jr., Don Sr, Deb, Jenny, Janet, Emily, Jenny H., and Sam. I owe you all so much for all your support! Furthermore, the advice and support from Micah and Diana was priceless! They were able to give me tips and hints throughout my transformation. Without their support, I seriously would have struggled to pick myself up when I was down!

So, I find myself thinking, how can I help others at this point and thus want to share some of the questions and comments that I got from friends and family along the way:

1. Are you wearing spanx?
- No way, I am just working out and trying to get “Hitch Fit!”

2. Are you starving yourself and have you turned anorexic?
-No, but I was starving myself before I started my program. Not intentionally, I just didn’t have time to eat with a baby and all, so I went without. What I learned from Micah and Diana was that there was my problem number 1! They taught me what I could eat when time is of the essence, but to NEVER starve myself!

3. Your program sounds easy!
-Ha, try it! It’s one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I was not a runner or in shape by no means and I didn’t eat healthy at all (literally every meal was fast food or take-out). So, changing my diet and exercising every day (sometimes for more than 2 hours of my day) was hard. I am not even going to sugar-coat that. Especially, when it was what I like to call, “a race between the baby clock!” I would put my little one down for a nap and kick it to the basement to see how much I could accomplish in the amount of time before she wakes up. Many times, I would head to the basement four times in one day to get all my cardio and strength training in. I would even run at night when everyone else had already went to bed to get those calories burned. There was no “nap when the baby naps” at this house! Now, there was if you want to come over and see me, you are going to have to join me in the gym! After all, the baby did sometimes and my five year old, Jonas Paul, did often times to watch me cause that meant he got to play in the basement.

4. Why are you torturing yourself?
-Actually, I feel better than I have in years! I am addicted to this lifestyle now. I love to run and eat healthy. My body craves it. My family has benefited from this too. My husband has lost a lot of weight. My son loves to lift weights with me and try the new foods I eat. To be completely honest, I now find ways to try and burn a few extra calories. For instance, my newborn loves to be walked to sleep. Well, if I am walking her to sleep, I might as well walk up and down the stairs to try and burn some calories. And if you ride in my car, I don’t park close to my destination now. This lifestyle is not torture! A life of health complications, sounds more torturous to me.

5. Did you cheat and did you drink alcohol?
- No way! I still can’t bring myself to have cheat meals. I feel that great and want to keep it that way. I don’t drink soda anymore and if you knew me before, I was addicted to Diet Coke. I haven’t eaten pizza, McDonald’s, Burger King, etc. in I don’t know how long. I am just not interested! I love the foods that I ate on the program and still eat to this day. I don’t drink and if I do, it’s maybe a glass of wine. Why drink those extra calories when I could eat something good for me and it will feed my body for a longer amount of time?

At an rate, at the end of this journey, I have found that no one is going to make you feel better about yourself, except for you! Many times you truly have nothing to lose and everything to gain! I have certainly gained a lot this year and hope to continue to do so. My plans for the future don’t just stop here! As I explained earlier, I do plan to push myself harder. I will be auditioning for a spot on NFL Chiefs cheerleader team in February and in May I do plan to compete with other Wbff athletes. But, once again thank goodness for Micah and Diana! They have this great gift and I am so blessed for what they have given me, health, happiness, a new perspective on life. I hope they continue to make an impact on the entire world! With the up-most respect and gratitude, thank you!!”

    Amy,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Your story was such an inspiration to me. I’m planning on starting the Hitchfit program in April (that’s when my husband is finished with medic school and can help out with our toddler more). Last night I shared with him my plans for April and how excited I was to start this program. He gave a half hearted smile and said “What about the DVD’s you bought or the exercise machine your parents gave you from their den? You have a difficult time sticking with things.” My response was basically what you wrote, “You’re right I do, but this time I’m being held accountable by people that I admire and respect, and I can’t not do it.” After our talk last night I was ready to give up on my “ME GOALS” and then I saw your transformation. Your transformation was the sign that I needed to motivate me to reach for my full potential that this is a choice that I must make for myself to gain back my confidence and find true happiness (also as a mother who has scarified her body for her child I DESERVE it)! Thank you again for giving me the extra push that I needed to finish my journey. Also you look AMAZING!
