I feel like I have been struggling with my weight for the past several years. I was always active in my high school years. I was on drill team and swim team, and in awesome shape. I never weighed above 120 pounds until I made a decision that was fatal to my physique. As a mode of birth control, I started the ‘Depo’ shot. I went from 120 pounds to 160 pounds in what felt like over night (really it was less than a year). It seemed like with every shot, I gained 10 pounds almost immediately. Eventually, when I related the weight gain to the shot, I stopped, but the damage was done.
As it was, a girl in a ‘jo-co’ high school, I already had somewhat of a skewed body image, and my dramatic weight gain pushed me over the edge. On top of everything else, I ended up with mono at the beginning of swim season, and was unable to be on the team. My once active lifestyle started to become not so active. I turned to my doctor for help getting the weight off, I always ate decently and started going to the gym, but I felt like I was making no progress. After appointment after appointment of complaining, my doctor eventually put me on Meridia, to help suppress my appetite and aide in my weight loss. To my surprise, it worked! I lost the weight! However, when I got off of it, to no surprise, a good majority of the weight came back.
Ever since, I have yo-yo’ed with my weight. Gaining and loosing, caring and not caring. I have worked out with several trainers and lost weight that i gained, but for whatever reason, when I would start seeing progress, or get to my goal, I would lose interest in diet and exercise and revert back to old ways.
I started nursing school about a year ago, and felt like i never had time or energy for anything other than school. Any time I spent at the gym was cut short by the crunch of school and studying. Looking back, I’m sure that it wasn’t the ‘lack of time’, but the lack of motivation. FINALLY, one day I realized, at the age of 24, I shouldn’t have to struggle with weight, or finding the motivation and energy to get up and go to the gym; and as a soon to be nurse, I should know better than eating un-healthy. I had finally found the motivation to make a life change, instead of a temporary change.
When I found out about Micah’s online training program, I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to work. Anytime I have been serious about the gym, I have had a trainer by my side, more or less to tell me what to do. Working out alone, I knew that I would be able to push myself (little did I know how hard), but I had no clue where to start with weights and a diet. As an unemployed student, I knew that I couldn’t afford one-on-one training sessions. The HitchFit program was the perfect fit.
It is unbelievable how I have pushed myself through my work out. When I started, I was hardly burning 350 calories per cardio session, and almost hit the floor when I saw that I was eventually going to work my way up to 1000-1500. 12 weeks later, I have made it, and it is such a fulfilling feeling to know that I have lost 25 pounds essentially on my own. I am so thankful that I came across this program! Although i want to take my body further, I feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in a long time!
On one last note, I saved a pair of jeans that I HAD TO HAVE when I was in high school. Throughout all of the years of yo-yo-ing, I have never quite been able to get into them. When I started this transformation, I tried them on and could hardly pull them past my knees. I am proud to say, I can finally put them back on!
Micah – THANK YOU for what you do! This has been an amazing transformation for me, and I am finally able to say that I will be able to do this whole gym/diet thing for the rest of my life! I truly appreciate your encouragement and words of wisdom over the past 12 weeks.
